This Saturday (21st April) will see thousands of record fans across the UK celebrating Record Store Day, a day when independently-owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate music as music (rather than as a mass-marketing and money-making exercise that so many big-name chains are guilty of).

Limited vinyl and CD releases are made, and artists around the globe make special appearances, all in honour of the day that encourages fans to appreciate the true art of music.

Priding itself as 'More than just your local record store', Kingston's independent Banquet Records started life as part of the Beggars Banquet chain, before becoming fully independent in 2002, and has since expanded to put on club nights, gigs and in-store sessions, as well as offer a thorough catalogue of releases, new and old.

After last year's rush, Banquet Records will be opening at 8am on Saturday, so music fans can get their mitts on the special releases which are available first come, first served, in-store only. Don't miss out!
