A student from Kingston College has won a scholarship for a three month ERASMUS exchange programme in Barcelona.

Shadia Ferguson, 46, is a second year student on the Foundation Degree in Early Years.

As a mature student and mother of two she is delighted to have the opportunity to study abroad.

Shadia, who lives in Chiswick, has just left to begin the exchange at Ramon Llull University.

She says: "Having this chance to go to Barcelona is amazing. I'm looking forward to experiencing another culture and learning the language and hopefully can incorporate it with my studies."

"I'm fortunate that my family are very supportive of me doing this."

"It's hard learning at my age however the tutors have been excellent and go that extra mile to support me and give me additional help. I am really enjoying my course and am learning more and more each day."

In addition to her studies she is also planning to volunteer for a charity working within a school.
