New figures from TUC (the Trade Union Congress), indicate that while youth unemployment is rising across the country, Kingston has the lowest youth unemployment rate in the country.

Unemployed Kingston residents aged 18 to 24 totalled 2.2 percent in September, compared to the national average of 8.8 percent.

Only five other local authorities have seen their youth unemployment figures stall, including Hillingdon, Kensington and Chelsea, Richmond upon Thames, Reading and Warwickshire.

Next week the Office for National Statistics will release official figures which are expected to show that unemployment among young people has reached the one million mark.
