New statistics from the Department for Education (DfE) show that Kingston's children have the lowest truancy rates in London.

According to the figures, just 95 unauthorised half day absences were logged at state-funded schools in the borough, despite record highs elsewhere in the country.

Similarly, authorised absences for illness and holidays were lower in Kingston than most other boroughs, with just 844 days missed.

However, the findings also showed that 738 children in Kingston persistently played truant, but this figure is still lower than many other parts of the country.
