Kingston school attendance levels are third best in the country

Kingston's overall attendance rate in school during 2011-12 was 95.6 per cent (up from 95.2 per cent the previous year) making it the third best nationally.
Overall 738 pupils achieving 100 per cent.
Hundreds of Kingston pupils have been honoured for not missing a day of school as the borough again achieved one of the highest attendance rates in the country.
Four ever-present pupils have received special medals from the Mayor of Kingston for attending school every day for the last four years.
More than 700 children across the borough have been presented with 100 per cent attendance awards by the Mayor, Councillor Mary Heathcote OBE.
Councillor Patricia Bamford, Kingston Council's Lead Member for Children and Young People, said,
"School attendance in Kingston continues to be among the best in the country. It's a fantastic effort and I pay tribute to all the pupils, teachers, families and education officers who have helped to improve and maintain high attendance rates."
