Kingston students to take part in nationwide beauty competiton

Hair and beauty students from Kingston College scooped final places in the recent Association of Hair and Beauty Therapists' southern regional heat in Dartford. 

A group of fourteen students entered five competitions and won places in all of the areas.

In the College's schools link, Rebecca Spiking from Chessington School, came first.

Her classmate Carle Higgs was placed third in the bridal hair up on a doll's head sector.

Hair and media make-up students Rose Taylor and Emine Disilva won first and second places in the face painting competition with a traditions and culture theme.

In the bridal team competition, make-up student Rose Taylor, and hair and media make-up student, Sandy Coote, won first place and in the sixties themed make-up competition, Rose Taylor was placed third.

All the students will now go forward to compete with all the colleges in the country at the national competition which takes place at The Winter Garden in Blackpool later this month.

Maria Manoochehri, Lecturer in Hairdressing, says: "We are delighted at the success of our students in the southern heat.

They all worked exceptionally hard in their areas and it's great that their hard work and dedication has been rewarded. Going to the finals in Blackpoll will be a wonderful experience for them all."
