FIND THE PERFECT MATCH AT LOVE KINGSTON’S VALENTINE’S VOLUNTEERING EVENT
By Kingston People | Wednesday, January 29, 2014, 14:25
Local residents keen on volunteering for a community group in Kingston can find their perfect match this Valentine’s Day Friday 14th February at a free event starting at 4pm at Kingston University’s Students Union at the Penhyrn Road Campus.
Speed matching is a fun way for local residents who have been thinking about volunteering but aren’t quite sure what to do, or which charity to support, to get started. Potential volunteers will get two minutes to talk with each of the 20 local organisations taking part including Kingston Hospital, Refugee Action Kingston, Creative Youth and Kingstonfirst. There will also be an opportunity to get more information at an exhibition afterwards.
Spaces are limited so to book, call 020 8547 1221 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Ros Morgan, Chief Executive, Kingtonfirst, comments: “I have never worked in a town with so many people and businesses willing to volunteer their time to support their community. It’s truly inspirational and Kingstonfirst is incredibly grateful for their commitment. The speed match event is a fun and successful way of allowing volunteers and organisations to meet, find out more about one other and, when appropriate, to develop great new volunteering opportunities. If you have never volunteered and would like to find out more then please come along”.
The Love Kingston fundraising campaign is part of Kingston Voluntary Action’s (KVA’s) Transforming Kingston’s Infrastructure project, funded by the Big Fund on behalf of the Office for Civil Society. KVA is working in partnership with The London Community Foundation on delivering this campaign, which is supported by Kingstonfirst, Kingston’s business improvement district.
Love Kingston’s Volunteer Speed Dating is session coordinated by Kingston University, Go Kingston Volunteering and Kingstonfirst.
