Police have asked for an extra 12 hours to question a 22-year-old in connection to a stabbing in Kingston's Oceana nightclub yesterday morning.

Jamie Sanderson was killed whilst out with friends during the 'Fuzzy Logic' event.

Emergency services were called to the Clarence Street nightclub at about 3.30am yesterday following an altercation near the ground-floor toilets.

Jamie, a 20-year-old rapper also known as 'Bullet', was rushed to hospital but died in the ambulance.

Councillor Derek Osbourne, Leader of Kingston Council, said: "This is a shocking incident and our thoughts are with the victim's family and friends.

"The death is subject to a serious criminal investigation and the Council will give every support to the Police in bringing to justice the person or persons responsible.

"This death has shocked our community, especially as violence of this sort is very rare here. Kingston is one of the safest boroughs in London with the lowest crime rate.

"Kingston Council works hard with the police and other partners to make sure that our streets and venues are safe for everybody living here and those who come for a good night out."

"We will act on any lessons to be learned from this sad episode, including a call to review the licensing of this local venue."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 0208 358 0200 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
