I see that the big old Borders' premises is going to be a new Next opening in time of Christmas. Aren't there two Nexts in Kingston already? A bit disappointing actually - I was hoping for something a bit more exciting - three floors of Next clothes, accessories and furnishings. Groan! Any one else agree with me?

So now they will be two gaps on the high street where the old Next stores were.

I think in the current economic climate we are lucky it hasn't been left empty for years. Borders was fab, but I'm not surprised it didn't make money. Two quality shops that we used to have in Kingston are Liberty and Hamleys. However both were in the wrong type of shop and in the wrong area.

I'll be interested to see what happens with the current Next shops because the centre of the high street is looking a bit ropey at the moment with phone shops galore.

At least we don't have the plethora of charity shops like other shopping areas.
