It's known for being one of the only three Royal Boroughs in England.

Though this will change in 2012 when Greenwich is named one as well.

    Haha, nice one Gutti.

What are the other 2 royal boroughs? I thought the only other one is The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea?

KymHamer I think you may be thinking of the Sopwith Camel - A WW1 biplane - they were manufactured in Canbury Park. I think the Hawker Hurricane (WW2) was built somewhere nearby too...

Here's a random fact: The Kingston coat of arms is almost identical to the coat of arms of the Swedish historical province (landskap) of Ångermanland. Both coats of arms can be traced back to the 16th century. Go me!

It is famous for the fact that the ancient Kings of England were crowned there. Outside the Guild hall in the centre of Kindston stands a square stone that has a blue railing around it. That was the Coronation Stone!

Kingston is also famous for being the birthplace of Eadward Muybridge the photographer , which is currently at the Tate London and Kingston Museum.

Other creative claims to fame is 'out of order' the iconic phone boxes in Old London Road.
