Dean Owens is a singer-writer from Edinburgh. Formerly a member of the alt-country-rock outfit The Felsons, Dean created the widely acclaimed album ‘Whisky Hearts’ in 2007. Early in 2012 ‘New York Hummingbird’ cemented his reputation as one of the UK’s finest pop/folk/country writers and performers.
On November 5th Drumfire Records releases Dean Owen’s latest project – a labour of love, an homage, a tribute... “Cash Back – Songs I Learned From Johnny” which proudly demonstrates the influence that Johnny Cash has had on Dean Owens craft.
On November 7th, Dean will be headlining a show at Kingston’s Ram Jam Club showcasing the new album.
Dean Owens is NOT a Johnny Cash tribute act, but he has created a deeply personal album of songs that Johnny Cash recorded that had an impact on him and tracks written but others great writers, like Nick Lowe and Bob Dylan and Jagger & Richards. This is music of the widest appeal to anyone who values quality. Accessible, cool and moving. Music that has influenced a generation, delivered with originality, honesty and integrity.
