After removing funding for a new Secondary in Kingston, it has been reported  that Education Secretary Michael Gove has frozen grants for the playbuilder scheme.

This means that Kingston Council can no longer afford to complete Phrase 2 of it's improvements for play areas in Parks and Council Estates that include Canbury Gardens and Latchmere Recreation Ground. This means the public's input and money spent on yet another council consultation has been wasted.

The improvements that are already underway can be completed but any new upgrades have been scrapped.  The government blames the scrapping of the scheme on the unrealistic spending targets of the last government.
