On Saturday 17th July 2010 in Battersea Park the 606
club and Wandsworth Council selected singers to entertain the public using the
bandstand as the stage. The day was divided into allotted times and each
group/singer was allocated their slot, it was a long day starting from 1:30pm
to 10:45pm. The likes of Madeline Bell, the London horns, Pinise Saul and the
Sugar Kings were present and performed to high standards at the Battersea Park
Music Event. The atmosphere was buzzing, people were up and dancing throughout
the day, towards the evening the summer night vibe was breaking through and the
audience was having a good time.
The friendly atmosphere made it possible for people aged 2 to 80 to join
in and celebrate music and summer.
The climax of
the day would have to be the final performance, which was a collaboration of
two of the popular artists, Madeline Bell and Mary Pierce. The ladies performed
together effortlessly and their voices complimented each other perfectly. The
night was an success and thoroughly enjoyable it could not have been possible
without the 606 club and Wandsworth Council who organized the whole event.
Kingston really needs something like this to cheer up and inspire locals, it
would be a brilliant way of getting businesses involved to sell drinks and
snacks whilst locals can relax through a well-planned performance.
