When Kingston Council sent me recycling information through the door in the middle of February I got excited as finally after 5 years of asking I'm getting doorstep recycling.

I actually wrote to the council  before I moved in but got no reply. Eventually when I moved in I got my then MP Susan Kramer to chase the issue up. She couldn't even get a reply until she wrote to the council twice. The reply was simply "Kingston Council doesn't recycle from flats."

However as with everything the council does they forget to give small bits of information like when the flat doorstep recycling scheme starts. Luckily they like publicity so it was easy to find out that the scheme is being rolled out this week.

So finally I can say thank you to my friends in Kingston who allowed me to use their bins to place my recycing in when I couldn't get to the tip or Sainsburys.

I should add that it's still not possible for everyone in Kingston to get doorstep recycling due to lack of space outside.
