Do you know about Kingston Horticultural Club? One of the hidden gardening treasures of Kingston?

Bee busy at work
Last
Sunday I went down to meet some of the group at the Sunday Gardening
Shop at the end of Park Road. Though I know Park Road well I wasn’t
aware where the shop was located, but there is a map here to show
you.
I
arrived to over hear some of the members giving advice on the best way
to grow things and how to deal with plant diseases over cups of tea and
coffee.
The
club ,which has about 600 members of all ages, is a mixture of a
gardening and social club. They have social trips throughout the year,
monthly meetings and 2 plants sales per year. The plants on sale include
those grown on the clubs allotments. In addition they have their
Annual Open Show every September. This year’s show is on 4th September
at Barnfield Youth Centre, and everyone is free to come along.
Membership
of the society costs £3.50 a year. It allows you to get advice, go on social trips, join in on the monthly meetings which often are parties, and use of the shop which sells compost, fertilizers,
seeds, plants and more. So if you want to join the easiest way is pop
along to the shop on Sundays between 10.30am-12.30pm.
