By now you have probably given up on your New Years Resolutions and are feeling down a bit down with the grey skies and rain, well how about a few little treats that can be easily be found in Kingston to cheer you up?

Kingston has lots of independent coffee shops and cafes including Classico and Caffe Bernado both on Richmond Road or Red Bell on Park Road. So why not take time out of your day to just sit in one and relax by having a coffee or a snack. If you are in a hurry or want something warm,  and are at Norbiton station why not buy something from the Espresso Bar? They have been there 11 years so clearly know what they are doing.

If you are in town and would like something sweet then check out Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe. The shop is truly an adults delight.

If you want something up to date to read then British Book Shops and Stationers always has current cut price books on sale.  Then there is Banquet Records for your music needs if you prefer not to read in complete silence.

For cheaper nights out then The Canbury Arms is offering Wine Night on Mondays, 2 For 1 Night on Tuesdays and Steak NIght on Wednesdays. Check them out on twitter @theCanburyArms.

The Boaters Inn has a January Sale on. They have a Wine Night on Mondays and a Supper Club with a great meal and glass of wine on Thursdays. They are on twitter as well @theboatersInn and have live Jazz nights throughout  the month.

Or you can simply stay in and  just get a takeaway

UPDATE: British Bookshops and Stationers went into administration a few days ago. However according to the Industry magazine, The BookSeller, the stores will remain open for another few weeks while a buyer is sought. With Waterstones owner HMV Group in trouble,  it seems that High Street Bookshops are no longer viable.
