If

you have been walking down Old London Road in Kingston recently you may

have noticed lots of building work going on next to 37 Old London Road.

Well now the building work is finished and the result is Kingston’s own

taste of Poland.

Republic

sells traditional Polish food including Żurek z jajkiem i kielbasa

(Polish soup with boiled egg and sausage) and Karkówka (grilled pork).

However you can also pop in for coffee or cake, or an All Day Breakfast.

So if you are shopping in Kingston why not drop in for a coffee break?

Last Wednesday evening the Old London Road Traders association held their annual Christmas party at the Republic Restuarant at # 35 Old London Road.
40 people attended the food and the service were fantastic. We had several local figure heads in attendance including (on an unofficial visit) The mayor of Kingston (Councilor Chrissie Hitchcock) along with her husband. The Kingston Town Center Manager Graham McNally and June Sampson from the surrey comet along with thirty seven shop owners and their guests.
Everyone commented it was the best annual party the O.L.R.T Association had held and that the presentation and quality of the food was absolutley first class . Our thanks to Robert the proprietor, Chefs and the waitresses for doing such a great job and taking care of us. A Resturant to be highly recommended.

My Wife and I (Not polish) eat here often you should go by and check out the menu posted in the window. Polish food is not that much different. They also serve a great full english breakfast.
Just a sample of their menu is :
Pork medallions in mushroom sauce served on creamy mashed potatoes with tyme (Delicious)
Pan fried or poached fillet of salmon served with dill sauce and baby potatoes.
Shoulder of pork with mustard, herbs de provence and garlic served with roast potatoes and pickled cucumber (our favorite).
Roast pork loin stuffed with sausage in gravy served with silesian dumplings and cabbage.
Pan fried sausages served with creamy mashed potatoe and onion gravy.(Bangers and mash to us English absolutely delicious highly recommended.)

As a Starter try their home made dumplings Stuffed with Meat,Cabbage, and mushroom or soft cheese with potatoe.(Amazing).

There are many more dishes including pasta.
They also have a Great! Christmas menu that caterers for everyones tatste.
Republic is well worth a visit and they are open for coffee and truly home made pastries from 9am with daily business specials and dinner through until 11pm with a fully licenced bar. A highly reccommended establishment .
Just an observation, be patient when ordering as all food is prepared and cooked when ordered.

Why would this restaurant be aimed just for Polish people? I think it would be nice for British people as well to try it out.

I can recommend Barszcz (Beet Root Soup), Bigos (Hunters Stew) or Nalesniki z serem (sweet pancakes with a frommage frais filling).
Polish cuisine has in general many tasty soups to offer, cabbage based dishes and meat, meat, and more meat!

    It's definitely worth trying! ;-)
