An Accident Waiting To Happen In Kingston

Today
crossing Coombe Road on my way to Norbiton station I noticed
something odd - it was very hard to cross the road.
The
road is being dug up like many roads in Kingston and has temporary
traffic lights. However for some reason the contractors digging up
the road think it's safe to tell pedestrians to cross the road on
the zebra crossing on a red light.
Unfortunately
they haven't placed traffic lights that pedestrians can see.
Neither have they placed signs in the direction of drivers telling
them that the crossing is still in use, and that pedestrians will
cross the road when the lights change
Seems like an accident waiting to happen.

Clare1960, I use that crossing every morning and have noticed this construction work happening. When I cross there are usually no contractors so I presumed that the rules of the crossing stayed in place regardless of the traffic lights so I am probably lucky I haven't been skittled!
They def. need to sort this!
