Electric Car Recharging Points Now Near You!

For those with electric vehicles in Kingston it's good to know that Asda has launched it's first recharging point in association with ChargeMaster in nearby Roehampton, just up the A3 from Kingston.

Asda has joined other supermarkets, Transport For London, utility companies and car rental companies as part of a consortium to install 7,500 electric vehicle charging points around the capital by 2013 using its private and public funding.

Asda now has plans to add 2 free recharging bays in the carparks at 4 other stores including it's Kingston store on London Road.

Some critics have indicated that this will not be enough due to the time needed to recharge an electric car. However a spokeswoman for Asda made it clear that they will be monitoring feedback from customers and if the bays are well used they will introduce more points at other stores.
