My New Takeaway - Spice Lodge

On Thursday evening due to being

disorganised and not taking food out of the freezer, I decided to try

the new Indian Takeway on Park Road called the Spice Lodge.

I had been walking pass the empty shop

for over a year, and was pleasantly surprised when the signs went up

for an Indian Takeway a month ago. I then eagerly looked for the

opening date and saw a sign on the window that stated it would open

on on Monday 25th January.

I ordered Lamb Jalfrezi and Pilau rice.

Having eaten lots of Indian meals in my time I am wary of ordering

lamb, however this time I was pleased as the lamb was tender and had

no gristle at all. The dish came with some green chillies which gave

it a definite kick.

The Spice Lodge is the first Indian

Takeway in the area and the food is cooked without any artificial

colourings or favourings.

The next day I went in to talk to the

owner to find more about them. They are a family run business and the

owner has managed an Indian Takeway in Motspur Park.

Asking more about the food I found out

that that the people of North Kingston/Norbiton area like Lamb dishes

and Lamb Korai has been the most popular dish in this, their first

week of opening. Their speciality dishes are the Chicken/Lamb

Shatkora, which is not hot, and the Naga Chicken/Lamb, which is very

hot.

Well it looks like I'm going to have

fun eating my way through the menu as while they have dishes that are

common to all Indian Takeways, their specialities are definitely not.

We got a menu through our door a couple of weeks too so decided to give them a try. I also agree that the food was very tasty. We had  veg dhansak and my hubby had a prawn dish. Can't remember what it was now. The guy taking our order was polite and the delivery efficient. The sauces were nice without all that grease and oil that can usually come with Indian take away's. I'm sure we will be ordering from them again.
