Kingston Talent – Rachel Rabin

Whilst walking through Kingston Square Market the other day
I came across a budding young singer who goes by the name of Rachel Rabin and I
was fascinated to find out that she was actually from Kingston. I was
interested in finding out more about her music so I visited her MySpace on www.myspace.com/rachelrabin and
listened to all of her tracks.
Having listened to all the tracks on Rachel Rabin’s MySpace,
I had recognised that her voice and the quality of her music was actually very
good and I particularly liked the songs, ‘Dreams are Calling’ and ‘My way back
home’. In my opinion I would say that the music produced by Rachel Rabin comes
under the category of pop music and the sound which her music creates can be
likened to a mixture between that of Amy Winehouse and Duffy. After listening
to Rachel Rabin’s music I also realised that her music has a mainly acoustic
sound with most of her music being made up of string instruments such as the
guitar together with the addition of the keyboard/piano.
Once I had had a good listen to the music, I then passed it
on to some of my friends and family. I have to say the majority of them
approved of Rachel Rabin’s music, with the odd exception of one or two people
who did not like it. This says a lot for the music as I asked people of all
different ages such as my brother, my mum as well as some of my own friend what
they thought of the music and therefore not only shows that the music is of
good quality but also that Rachel Rabin’s songs can appeal to all ages.
Finally, I would just like to say that I think the people of
Kingston should be proud that Kingston can produce such wonderful talent and
they shouldn’t hesitate to support all the talent that is coming out of
Kingston.

ReportI agree - what I also love about Kingston on a weekend is seeing different performers in Clarence Street. We've fallen in love with The Huckleberries and their bluegrass tunes and we even saw a really good didgeridoo demonstration (sorry...I'm an expat Aussie) not long ago.
