Despite living in Kingston for most of my life I'd never actually been here until this weekend just gone. What a pleasant surprise! Lovely food and good service despite how busy it was. As ggsam says, it's not so authentic that you actualy think you're in Paris, but the food is pretty close to the best French grub I've ever had.

Frere Jacque is obviously a very clich£French song, so its kind of fitting that the owner and host of this French style Bistro is a man named Rene who is as stereotypically French as they come. Which is, of course, a very good thing you know you arent in Paris when you go here, but the food is great and the atmosphere suitably Frenchified for everyone to enjoy it. It also benefits massively from a beautiful riverside location, so you can sit back and watch everything go by, but also has wonderful service, great tasting food, and some really lovely original dishes (particularly the camembert wedges!)
I love this place. I had a lovely, memorable birthday when the sun was shining and the food was superb! It's always very busy which is always a good sign that the food is good and the staff are very nice and always smiling. Definately recommend going there for a FAMILY MEAL. Very pleasant.
I have been here several times since I moved to Kingston. It's right down on the river near Kingston Bridge, particularly lovely to sit outside on a summer's evening. The food is typically French - good quality, uncomplicated and really flavoursome and there are some great offers for early dinner and lunch set menus. The deep-fried camembert and the salmon are absolutely amazing and like most French restaurants the dessrts are not to be missed (and it's actually quite difficult to choose one). I think I also read somewhere that they do a dinner and Rose Theatre deal so this should def. be on the must go to list!
