Get On Your Bike! Cycling Fun With The Kingston Wheelers

If you have made a New Year resolution to do more exercise you probably have broken it by now due to the dreary weather or the fact you find the gym boring.
As Kingston has lots of pleasant green spaces and the river why not simply get on your bike and ride with the Kingston Wheelers Cycling Club?
The club created in 1924, caters for cyclists of all abilities and has members aged from 18 to 80.
Whether you are cycling for fun or not join one of their weekly Sunday runs. They meet at 9am on Portsmouth Road in the Car Park of Laithwaites Wine shop.
The rides start at 40 miles and take in the surrounding Surrey countryside. As the rides are for fun not racing they stop for tea and cake along the route. There are a few commonsense rules which you listed here but the most important thing is to say "Hello" to club members. If you are a more keen cyclist you can then progress to a different group.
While club members ride for fun it doesn't stop them racing so you will find members who take part in Road Racing, Time Trialling (popular with my own brother), Cyclosportif and Triathlons who you can train with in the surrounding area. They even have a coach to help you with your training.
It's not just exercise and racing with the club they do pop down to the The Druid's Head in the Market Place, every Monday at 8pm
for a club social to talk about everything bike and non-bike related. Find them at on the left hand side of the pub.
So if you are looking for a new way to get fit with fun give the Kingston Wheelers a go!
